That’s the real test – younger kids plug them in to keep them running after they’ve died, they jerk them sideways, pin them, sit the tablet upright with the cord mashed into the floor, they knock them off of whatever they’re sitting on… it’s a torture test hell for cords. They’re so hard on them that at least one original Apple cord has actually flamed out. I used to yell at my 5yo constantly, every time I saw the cord pulled taught, pinned at a 90 degree angle or worse, mashed completely back on itself. I have work devices that use the same cords, and the cords keep getting stolen because the former cords have been destroyed. We go through a ton of charging cables!!
I bought this one to charge my work phone, knowing that my 5yo would use it for the tablet. I haven’t said a word to him about being rough on it, I’ve just let him go to town, to see how long it would hold up. I’m waiting for it to fail, for him to destroy the cord, and so far it’s holding up great. It’s not quite as stiff in a few places, but those are the cord itself, not the connections, and it’s not hurting anything. Where they’re easily destroyed is where the cable is soldered to the connector, and these cables are covered with a heavy strain relief sleeve across that portion. I was a little concerned that the strain relief would come loose after a while and slide, like Cat5/6 cables do sometimes, but they haven’t. So far they’re holding tight and strong, and still stiff and protective.
After about a month, the only damage that has happened is that one of the cords had the decorative aluminum sleeve around the plastic of the connector come off. I double checked, it’s not needed in any way. The molded plastic was in perfect shape, and completely secure. The aluminum sleeve is indeed just cosmetic, and again, my son has been torturing these cables. It took me a small pair of needle-nose pliers and 30 seconds to crimp the sleeve slightly in the middle and slide it snugly back on. Problem solved.
I’m going to let the torture test continue. I bought a 4-pack of these, and they’re still going strong. When I need more, though at this point I’m guessing due to loss rather than destruction, I’m buying more of these.

I originally ordered these for me and my coworkers around me. Coworkers kept taking our chargers, so I especially appreciated the bright red color. They didn’t work very well (charged very slow/sometimes didn’t charge at all).
But, I reported them and I was immediately contacted by Tina, who sent new chargers right away, and followed up with several other emails making sure I received them and that they worked well. I got them in just a couple days, plus a gift accessory charger!
So far so good!! They charge much faster and work every time. Thanks Tina!

I never write reviews on the first day I receive a product. This AHGEIIY MFi cable set warrants an exception. I have searched high and low for a high quality (reinforced ends, braided wire, etc.) cable that would fit into my Otter Box Armor iPhone 5/SE case. (My guess is it would also work on Otter Box’s other models such as Defender and Protector.) I finally found these that totally exceeded my expectations. The key element, as you can see from the Apple charger comparison photo above, is it matches the size of the Apple wire for a few millimeters after the lightening end. Then it starts with the heavily reinforced part of the cable. This is key to fitting any cable into any decent shock and water proof case.
There are other reinforced cables, case logic, for example, that fit these cases with a recessed charging port but I’d estimate that these $3-$4 cables have about twice the strength and reinforcement of $10-$12 case logic or other well-known brands. The cable itself is very smooth to the touch and extremely strong. There are cables that have more braiding and are probably stronger but I think AHGEIIY (or Haribol-Tech) has hit on the right combination of size, strength and flexibility for the vast majority of users. (The main key to longevity is not pulling the cable out by the cord, which is nearly impossible to do with an Apple cable. These have plenty of room to apply a thumb and forefinger to the aluminum or reinforced plastic part of the cable so that the user is never pulling on the wire directly.)
There was a very pleasant extra gift cable which is about 3 inches long and came with a unified cap for both ends of the cable which also had a ring for attaching it to a key chain. I think it’s a little large for a key chain but the double cap is great for keeping it away from dirt, etc. in a purse, glove compartment or other storage location. My wife always has a battery pack with her but she has to carry around a 3 foot cable which is always in the way when looking for other items in her purse. This small cable is going in a small zippered pocket in the purse so it’s both out of the way and easy to find. She’s thrilled! (I cannot say whether all orders come with this bonus but the way the box was designed, I am pretty sure the product always comes with the small gift.)

We seem to be hard on our charging cables. We are usually replacing them every 4 to 6 months with whatever the least expensive bundled pack of cables that I could find. Well. When I found these last year, the price was right, and they had a warranty. So, I gave them a try. As others have reported, they are sturdy, and feel much more durable than others that we have purchased. True to form, the dear wife’s cable eventually developed a short, but lasted more than twice as long as other cables. The ones that I am using are still working great. Contacted customer service and quickly received replacement cables!! Could not ask for more.

Aesthetically the charger cable is bland. However the cost is kept low by the use of proven design implementations. The cable has been used in a commercial transport setting. It hasn’t failed in the 3 months since it was installed into the vehicle.
