Norton is no longer a trustworthy company. It used to be.
This purchased product costs less than they will ask in 12 months for a simple online renewal – by a factor of 133%, no less. A two-year renewal will cost you 330% of this 1-year product.
The program will attempt to force you into automatic renewal as a condition of use. You cannot refuse during set-up.
If you subsequently DO cancel this it will pop up incessant nark windows “advising” you of its immanent end.
The company doesn’t seem to either understand or care about customer loyalty – at least not on their own part. I’ve just learned that entering this product on the Your Norton Account page as a “renewal” with 29 days to go in order to avoid the vicious nagging will simply result in the loss of 29 days of subscription.
    This is NOT renewal.
    It is theft.
If it were renewal, a warning would be issued to the effect that registration isn’t renewal and to use another, more appropriate avenue. They don’t tell you that, though, at any time.
My advice – if you’ve bought the product use it.
DON’T, however, tie yourself into things like their Password Manager. It will only complicate your position when you’re trying to extricate yourself in a year’s time.
If you haven’t bought the product reflect on the wisdom of placing sensitive data in the hands of a company which behaves in this way. There are a lot of very worthwhile alternatives.
For myself I’m going to buy from another company and install that instead regardless of cost.
I simply don’t trust this squad.

I’ve used Norton for many years now and this latest software has the addition of a VPN. Whilst it may not be as good as some of the other VPNs on the market, this product still offers great value for money. You just need to bear in mind that you are buying a one year subscription. If you leave on ‘auto renew’ you will be billed at the end of the first year. I’ve always found it much cheaper not to auto renew and buy a new subscription each year.

5 Star product / 1 Star customer experience.

Although you’ve paid for a 12 month subscription when buying this, you have to hand over your credit card, debit card or PayPal details to Norton before your subscription is activated. There is NO way around it – no payment details; no activation even though you’ve paid for a 12 month licence! It’s unbelievable. I could understand it if you were purchasing the product from the Norton website where you’d have to enter payment details in the first place, but to buy the product key from an independent seller and then have to enter your details so that Norton can automatically bill you again 12 months time…

You can switch off the automatic renewal (and go through a further two confirmation screens in the process) in your account settings on the Norton website but Norton still have your payment details. Norton are going about this the wrong way. Auto renewal should be opt-in, NOT opt-out. Loyalty is never rewarded and the chances are they’ll charge you over the odds in 12 months time.

I do like Norton’s AV protection on my Windows PCs and I’ve been using it for years but on principle, I might opt for the much improved and free Microsoft Windows Defender next year. From past experience, I’ve found Norton to be useless on Android and iOS devices – there really isn’t any need for it on either operating system.

Fast delivery! Price is reasonable! Something catch my eyes when reading the front cover! It’s an attached offer if you buy a computer hardware! not to be sold separately

Used Norton for years and have no problem with the actual product but I buy a product key as I do not wish to have the product automatically renew every year and my card be debited. Norton think its ok not to allow you to proceed with your renewal using this purchased product key unless you provide your credit card information and agree to automatic renewal! Once you have renewed you then have to go back into your account delete all your card information and cancel auto renew. I think its pretty shady business practice (not to mention an internet security company expecting you disclose financial information for no reason). So despite being with Norton for several years and having no issue with the actual product I will go elsewhere next year.
