Had to replace them after noise cancelling bugged out, but seller kindly replaced them. Still a really great pair of earbuds.

It worked well for 1year but then I started facing battery issues. Battery dies in 30mins.
Warranty also expired. Sony provides no solution. Just an expensive product with such a short life.

Also seller doesn’t provide much support

I’ve only had these a couple of days & am still deciding if to return or not. Music professional, 40 years & know my way around sound in commerical production for record & film. Pricey & a little over-hyped in the reviews for what they are but certainly less so than (say) Bose Quite Comforts or Apple iPod Pro 2s, the latter of which is only really fully useful on Apple devices.

    Pluses:
    – The audio quality for both music and film is very good. Likely the best I’ve heard from consumer earbuds.
    – The controls are intuitve and easy to use. Works well on both Apple and Andriod /Windows devices.
    – In my case, the medium buds fit perfectly out of the box, however, the memory foam material may well degrade over time; replacement tips would be the AZLA SednaEarfit Crystal.
    – Good battery life & far better than its immediate competitors.

    Minuses:
    – The Noise Cancellation is not that brilliant, overratted.
    – The App is a bit fiddly but the ear training works well.
    – They’re not all that loud – watching movies on an iPad & need to be cranked all the way up. Music is fine.
    – Sony 360 is a compete waste of time and one wonders why Sony & Apple try make their surround sound propriety when Dolby Atmos has been the go-to standard for decades. The very few available 360 music apps are underwhelming.
    – Speaking of Dolby, there is no option in this buds’ control app to pseudo-spatialise or otherwise (unlike the Aipods), nor do they seem to register /playback Dolby Atmos on any video streaming service I’ve used, including Amazon, Netflix, Paramount or Disney … bit of a mystery that one: Dolby conversion to HRTF for earbuds should be automatic but I don’t detect any thing so far.

In sum: ‘comparatively’ good value when compared to other very pricey earbuds. But much of the hype and tech is relatively useless. I guess the main thing is that they sound very good & the battery lasts.

Was very excited to receive these next day after extensive reading. Imagine my disappointment when after trying all 3 sized tips they don’t stay in my right ear for long and actually cause me pain and made the outside of my ear swell. First time in my 40+ years with such an issue. I visited the Sony service center and the rep told me they can’t wear them either as it hurts THEIR ears! Can’t return as now used. What a colossal waste of money. Will think twice about buying Sony earbuds again. Avoid.

Bought for my daughter as a birthday present to replace her 5 year old Sony Earbuds. She couldn’t be happier, sound and noise cancelling are excellent

I have several sets of earbuds including Apple AirPods Pro, all were easy to pair. However with these Sony earbuds please make sure you turn off Bluetooth on other devices you have paired them to before trying to pair with a new device such as an iPad or Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+. This is because they will automatically pair with the previous device and you will be left wondering what is going on when they won’t pair with the new device. As soon as you turn Bluetooth off they pair immediately with the new device – strange but that is how it was with me.

Currently using the QC35 from Sony and it was a good headphone for home use. For outdoor use, it is not too comfortable as it is covers the ear and could get quite humid.

Very pleased with the WF-1000XM4 as the NR is able to filter out most ambient noise include some road noise. Am happy with the purchase.

I purchased the XM4s during the 2021 Black Friday sales. I was tossing between these and the Sennheiser MTW2s which were AU$100 cheaper at that time. Watched YT reviews from guys like Aaron, Picky and a few others. And finally decided the XM4s better ANC and app features were more important. I figured I could EQ either bud to suit my tastes. Out of the box I immediately had a problem, not with the buds or build but none of the three hybrid tips were any use to me. I have extra large canals and need big tips. Even the largest standard tips did not give me a good seal. This was surprising since even my cheap Sony WC-310s have a large tip that fits me. I do think part of the problem is that the bud’s size and shape prevent you pushing the tip very far into my big canals. Anyhow, I have enough spare tips to find a pair that fitted. These were silicone which I find much more comfortable than Comply tips anyway and with them I got a great seal. A good seal is vital to get full dynamic range and best ANC. Even so, I ordered some Spinfits CP360 (XL size). I’ve not used them before but they fit well and are super soft. I can use them for several hours in comfort.

In every other regard, the XM4s are terrific. Even with flat EQ I find their sound near perfect for me. Bassy without boom, nice mids and although the trebles are a little recessed compared to some buds, they don’t lack detail. In fact this means they have no nasty sibilance. They compare well to my Westone 4 IEMs with their 4 drivers! In fact I prefer the Sonys by a good margin. I also have a pair of Jabra 75Ts and Soundpeats H1s, both of which are very good to my ears. On their own those two sound very nice, but when you immediately switch to the Sonys you know you’re listening to a better pair of buds. Coupled with their fantastically effective ANC, comfort (for me), features and great app, I can say they are really good value. The EQ in the app is so flexible, I feel most users will find a sweet spot for their preferences. I use them mostly with my everyday iPhone which does exclude using LDAC unfortunately. I do have an Android A52 (long story) and can use LDAC with them. Honestly I don’t hear much difference to that compared to listening to lossless tracks whether my own FLAC files or the lossless off Apple Music. But then, my hearing is not as acute as it once was when younger.

In closing, I have read a few reviews mentioning low volume or tips that don’t fit including some saying the smallest are too large for them. These are both problems that will be a result of ill-fitting tips. Let me just say that there is nothing that can’t be fixed by getting some aftermarket tips. At the price Sony could (should?) probably add super small and extra large tips to cover us that the three included ones don’t fit. One other issue for some may be that the diameter of them could be too great for smaller ears making them difficult to get a good seal and uncomfortable. That is something you should weigh up before purchase. In my case, I’m extremely happy with mine and highly recommend the XM4s.

These are hands down the best Sony Buds in the market at the moment. The noise cancelling is great and the design is really sleek. Would have preferred the form factor to be reduced a bit as it looks chunky. The sound quality and battery life is fantastic.

Good received very fast in third day of order placing. Everything is good but the earbud tip..
The tip Size is too big to fit for my ears even the small one.
What’s worse, it turn to yellow after two days used and it damaged easily even i only use dry soft cloth to clean it.

Was pretty happy when I first bought this product. I am shocked to find that recently, the device started to barely last for 1 hour. Also, the battery life of both the ear pieces tended to differ. A quick google search online reveals that there are others having the same problem, even after downloading the latest software from Sony. I am really disappointed, so please refrain from this product.
